On the video's YouTube page, he says, "Not many people get a chance to feel what it's like to be on fire in a controlled environment...It's probably the most intense thing we've ever done and now it's time to start searching for the next challenge"

(NEWSER) – The owners of an abandoned Louisiana mansion are facing criticism after the house was burned down last week, allegedly by stoned ghost hunters, theTimes-Picayune reports. "We made our best efforts to secure the land from trespassers," said the owners of the LeBeau Plantation near New Orleans. "But it is doubtful that anything short of 24-hour patrols would have kept out these intruders intent on engaging in illegal activities." According to the sheriff, the suspected arsonists entered easily Thursday night through a gap in the fence often used by trespassers.
(NEWSER) – Is Charles Manson, 79, about to marry a 25-year-old woman? The woman in question seems to think so. Rolling Stone has a lengthy new profile of the infamous serial killer, that focuses just as much on his closest devotee: A woman referred to only as "Star," a name Manson gave her. In 2007, at age 19, she moved to California to be near Manson's prison. She's a devotee not of Manson's killing days, but of his environmental writings. She recently carved an X into her forehead, much as Manson and his followers did during their trial. Here's what she has to say about their relationship:
(NEWSER) – An unconventional method for cleaning up the streets of Amsterdam has some scratching their heads. A local foundation is paying citizens to clean up the streets—paying them in beer and sometimes cigarettes, that is. Apparently, the alcoholics in a local park were causing disturbances by fighting, being loud, and yelling at women, so the group behind the offbeat program, the Rainbow Foundation, decided to put them to work. The group of addicts starts work at 9am with two beers; they get a lunch break that comes with a hot meal and two more beers, and then work until the day ends at 3:30 with one last beer and 10 euros (about $13.50). The beers and money are courtesy of government funding. The Foundation contends that this program is great for the city and the alcoholics, saying it gives structure to their lives and keeps them busy—which in turn means they drink less. Newsy reports:
(NEWSER) – A central Alabama high school's principal yesterday explained that the person tasked with approving all football banners is out on maternity leave. And so this is what happened at McAdory High School in McCalla on Friday in her absence: The cheerleading squad made a massive "bust-thru" sign designed to taunt their second-round state playoff opponents, Pinson Valley High, and its mascot, which read: "Hey Indians, Get ready to leave in a Trail of Tears Round 2." Yes, that is indeed a reference to the forcible and deadly removal of Native Americans from the Southeast, and no, it hasn't gone over well.
(NEWSER) – A neighbor sums up the situation: "That's some sick people." An animal control deputy responding to concerns about a pig on the loose in Union County, NC, found something far more horrifying on Friday: a boy, 11, handcuffed to a porch, with a dead chicken wrapped around his neck. Foster parents Dorian Lee Harper, 57, and Wanda Sue Larson, 57, who also have four adopted kids, have been charged with child abuse and false imprisonment; their treatment of animals at their home also resulted in a cruelty charge, WCNC reports. Five children, ages 14, 13, 11, 9 and 8, have been removed from the home south of Monroe, NC.
