Ohio State not allowing blue shirts by those working the practices for outside entities is embarassing. Call me more enlightened than the next guy - yes, PLEASE do - but can the UM vs. OSU antics cease. Please. I'll place the blame on violent and moronic teenage (and adults too!) behavior on juvenile nonsense such as this long before I claim that harsh video games are the devil.
Because I'm old (OFF. THE. LAWNS!) I haven't been able to stay up to see Olbermann. Saw some clips yesterday and it's the clever, vintage sportscasting that I grew up watching in the 90s.
Also, Olbermann's point is brilliant, and overlooked by everyone including myself. Shouldn't people be THANKING and BLESSING Rex Ryan for his well designed and flawlessly executed gambit to have Mark Sanchez, who Jets fans have complained about for years, obliterated in the 4th quarter of a meaningless preseason games.
Crazy. Like a fox.
Forty-eight hours ago, one newspaper reporter tweeted that Rex Ryan should be fired for playing, in garbage time of an exhibition game, a quarterback who everybody hates. But then the hated quarterback got hurt, and suddenly that quarterback wasn’t a useless, hated stiff, he was Joe Namath, Jr. [Here, Olbermann smiled in disbelief.]
A stellar collection of words and GIFs analyzing Derek Jeter's controversial defensive skills. You know the argument, Gold Gloves vs. he's actually awful in the field. So if you want, just read the final two paragraphs.
Who's hit the longest HR of the season? Hunter Pence. 476 feet, off a brick wall in Colorado.
The Tigers WS % has tumbled below that of the Red Sox. 19 to 16. Maybe it's because Quintin Berry's going to run like Rickey on them in the ALCS.
If Verlander doesn't get this thing together in the next 5 weeks, there's absolutely no reason to start him before Scherzer or Sanchez in the playoff rotation. Remember, the Tigers will conveniently be able to construct their rotation because you'd expect them to have the division wrapped up more than a week before the first playoff pitch. Verlander's been no Schilling in the playoffs either, so that works against him as well. At this point, even though it's highly unlikely, my hope is that wheels don't entirely fall off...like Tim Lincecum style, but...it's been one of those very odd seasons, so I expect anything.
